- Definitions and Scope
EMZ Events Ltd (“EMZ Events”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is the operating and events arm of Vivere l’Italiano (“the School”). EMZ Events organises, administers and runs all of the School’s Italian retreats, cultural events, workshops, tours, experiences and private corporate tuition on the School’s behalf. These Terms & Conditions apply to all bookings made with EMZ Events.
For the purposes of these Terms & Conditions, “Services” refers to all retreats, cultural events, workshops, tours, experiences, private corporate tuition, lessons and language programmes organised and run by EMZ Events on behalf of the School. References to a “Service” should be understood accordingly.
- Entry Requirements
Unless otherwise stated or agreed, participants attending our Services must be aged 18 or over.
- Payment of Service Fees
Our Services are run on the basis of a minimum number of enrolments to make them viable. Before a Service starts we therefore rely on payment of Service fees to confirm a participant’s place on a Service, to be sure of participant numbers and to confirm the Service is going ahead to all of the participants taking part in it.
Payment for a Service is therefore to be made before it starts. A request for payment will be sent in advance of the Service start date, and places on the Service are only guaranteed once payment has been received.
- Cancellations, Credits & Refunds
Once a Service has been confirmed, refunds will not be offered as this can impact on the viability of the Service and affect other participants. We do understand, however, that a participant’s circumstances may change, and will therefore endeavour to offer alternative solutions such as crediting a Service fee toward a Service in a subsequent term. Credits for fees paid for regular Services cannot be used towards any other type of Service or tuition (such as workshops, private tuition, retreats or events).
Any offer of credit is at the sole discretion of the School (Vivere l’Italiano) or EMZ Events, and an administration fee will normally be charged to cover the time involved in pre- and post-Service exchanges with the participant during placement on a Service; this will be advised at the time a credit is offered. Any Service credit must be used within the two terms following the term for which the Service was paid.
No partial refund or credit forward to a new term or another Service can be given for Services not attended or missed. Missed Services cannot be replaced in, or credited forward to, a new term or another Service.
In the event the minimum number of enrolments is not reached and a regular Service cannot be confirmed, alternatives may be offered — for example, running the Service as a small group or on a 2-to-1 basis, or shortening the Service length to reflect the extra attention participants receive in this situation. Any such offer will be made before the Service starts, and acceptance of it is at the participant’s discretion. Should the Service not go ahead as scheduled, any Service fees which have been paid will be refunded in full.
- Liability of EMZ Events
EMZ Events is responsible for ensuring that our Services are run as described and that our tuition and associated Services reach a reasonable standard, unless failure or improper performance is attributable to:
- the fault of the participant
- unforeseeable or unavoidable actions of an unconnected third party, or
- unusual and unforeseeable circumstances beyond EMZ Events’ control, including force majeure.

Variations to the above Terms & Conditions may be made in the future.
